BUTIN.
Getting started · A quick tour
BUTIN.

Every account you pay for — billing, usage, and documents — in one local place, readable without logging in and kept on your machine.

Local-first No vendor APIs Your session only
The idea
How it works

You sign in. Butin reads every dashboard for you.

Step 1 · Sign in
You log in by hand
A normal login window opens. You sign in the usual way — password, MFA, SSO. Butin saves your session, encrypted, on your machine.
once
Step 2 · Replay
It fetches headless
While the session's alive, Butin reads the same pages your browser would — quietly, no window to keep open. When it expires, you sign in again.
every refresh
Step 3 · Bring it home
Clean data, local
Each fetch becomes a tidy dashboard — spend, usage, members, documents — stored only on your disk.
On-demand fetching. No separate "export" step, no browser to babysit — opening a service fetches its latest data using your stored session. When it lapses, a quick sign-in refreshes it.

The layout

One window. A list on the left, your data on the right.

1
The sidebar
Overview sits on top, then Data status, then every service you can add. Search to jump to one.
2
The dots
A small brand dot marks each service; a green dot appears once it has data on your machine.
3
First run is empty
A fresh install has no data. Pick a service (or open Data status) and connect it — that's the next step.

Browser sign-in

Just log in like you always do.

1
Sign in by hand
Password, MFA, SSO, email link — whatever the service uses. Butin never sees or stores your password.
2
It captures automatically
When the page reaches your logged-in home, Butin grabs the session and closes the window. If it doesn't auto-detect, hit Capture session in the toolbar.
3
Stored encrypted
The session is sealed with your OS keychain in ~/butin/. Some services need no login at all — they just ask for a key in a small form.

It just loads

Open a service. There's your data.

1
Tabs are the data
Each service shows what it has — Billing, Usage, Members, documents. Tabs load when you open them.
2
"Refreshed X ago"
Every tab tells you how fresh its numbers are. Hit Refresh to pull again; the old data stays put if a refresh fails.
3
The gear tab
The far-right tab is where you manage the connection and export — covered in a moment.
The Overview
One number

Every service, added up.

Connect a few services and the Overview becomes the home you actually open: total spend across everything, the trend month over month, and what moved.

1
Rollup cards
Spend and usage summed across every connected service — the single figure no one dashboard shows.
2
What changed
"Movers" surface the biggest jumps since last month, so a runaway cost is visible before the invoice.
3
Instant
It reads from your local cache — opens with no network call. Refresh a service to update its slice.

Is it still working?

Three colours tell you where each service stands.

Green — verified
Confirmed working this session: a successful fetch, Test, or Reconnect proved the session is live.
Blue — stored
A session is saved and survived restart, but hasn't been checked yet this session. Likely fine — Test to confirm.
Red — expired
The session is gone or a fetch failed with "logged out". Reconnect to sign in again — your data stays put.
Manage any service from its ⚙ Settings tab
Test — probe the session now Reconnect — re-run the login Refresh all — re-pull every tab Enabled — hide it from Overview Disconnect — drop the session

It all stays here

Your data, on your disk.

One folder. Everything Butin pulls lives under ~/butin/ — sessions encrypted, reports and files in plain folders you can open.
Save everything. The ⚙ tab's "Save everything" pulls a full export of a service — every report and document — in one go.
You're in control. Erase one service's data, or clear it all, any time. Disconnect keeps your downloaded files.
Nothing leaves. No cloud, no account, no server. There's no one to send it to — that's the point.
You're ready
